Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government is set to launch an extensive month-long campaign named Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning on September 17. This initiative is designed to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service and will see the initiation and laying of the foundation for projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the national capital.
A significant component of this campaign will be community-focused activities such as blood donation camps, health check-ups for the elderly, and sanitation efforts, including drives to clean the Yamuna River. Additionally, registration camps for various government welfare schemes will be held across all 70 assembly constituencies. A major blood donation camp is slated for September 17, with an ambitious goal of collecting 2,500 units, alongside a push to promote organ donation.
The campaign is also expected to launch projects worth around ₹8,000 crore related to the Yamuna, reflecting a substantial investment in environmental and infrastructure improvements. In recognition of their contributions, over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be honored during this period.
Educational programs will play a significant role, engaging students and youth in approximately 5,000 schools. Activities will include painting and speech competitions as well as an innovation challenge aimed at nurturing ideas for the development of India. These initiatives are strategically designed to involve and inspire the younger generation.
The campaign’s planned projects are diverse, covering several sectors: ₹8,000 crore is earmarked for Delhi Jal Board works, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department projects, ₹1,500 crore for power-sector initiatives, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control projects, and ₹77 crore for tourism development. This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and public welfare in Delhi.
