Putin Eager to Discuss Tech Partnerships with Modi Amid Jaishankar’s Moscow Visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin anticipates a forthcoming meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he recently welcomed External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to the Kremlin. This interaction unfolded during Jaishankar’s two-day diplomatic mission to Moscow, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between the two nations.

In his discussions with Jaishankar, Putin conveyed his warm regards to Modi and expressed optimism about a potential meeting in conjunction with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The Russian leader is also slated to visit New Delhi in September for the BRICS leaders’ summit, further underscoring the strengthening ties between Moscow and New Delhi.

During the meeting, President Putin emphasized the burgeoning trade relations between Russia and India. A notable point of discussion was the increased supply of fertilizers from Russia to India, with Putin expressing readiness to further boost these exports. This development is seen as a significant step in enhancing economic collaboration between the two countries.

On the economic front, Jaishankar engaged in talks with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. Their discussions centered on deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Manturov indicated Russia’s willingness to localize nuclear fuel production in India, suggesting a potential area for expanded technological and economic partnership.

As part of his visit, Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Their discussions are expected to cover various aspects of bilateral ties, as well as address regional and global issues, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the India-Russia relationship.
