In light of ongoing student demonstrations and accusations of police misconduct, the Chief Justice emphasized that the Supreme Court is prepared to consider every petition that is duly filed in line with legal procedures.
Addressing these concerns, the Chief Justice highlighted that the judiciary remains accessible to all citizens, pledging that justice will be administered where necessary. He addressed misconceptions by clarifying that the court had not previously refused to address the issues at hand; rather, no formal petitions had been submitted initially, only a representation, which does not fulfill the legal criteria for judicial action.
With new petitions alleging police misconduct during the protests on July 20 now officially filed, the Supreme Court has scheduled them for a hearing on Monday. This development underscores the court’s commitment to examining the complaints and ensuring justice is pursued.
Furthermore, the Chief Justice advised caution regarding reports that inaccurately suggested the court had declined to consider the case. He reiterated that the Supreme Court is open and willing to hear matters brought before it in compliance with legal standards, countering any misrepresentation of the court’s stance.
