The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has leveled accusations against both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming they are working in tandem, following a protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi near the Prime Minister’s residence over the NEET controversy. Sanjay Singh, an AAP Member of Parliament, suggested that the government permitted this protest as a tactical move to distract from the ongoing student-led movement demanding accountability for the NEET paper leak. Singh argued that this event detracted from the strength of the broader public campaign.
Adding to the criticism, Atishi, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, scrutinized the government’s handling of different protests. She noted that while student protesters and activists often encounter restrictions and police action during demonstrations near Parliament, Rahul Gandhi was granted permission to protest close to the Prime Minister’s residence and received a rapid governmental response.
The situation escalated when Union Minister Jitendra Singh engaged with Rahul Gandhi during the protest, expressing the government’s readiness to discuss NEET-related concerns in Parliament. Despite this, the demonstration concluded with the police detaining Rahul Gandhi along with several Congress Members of Parliament.
This incident has underscored the increasing tensions among opposition parties. The AAP has accused the Congress of receiving preferential treatment for their protests and indirectly aiding the BJP rather than backing the larger student movement demanding accountability. The allegations have highlighted a rift within the opposition, as AAP calls for a united front on these critical issues.
