Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor have firmly dismissed claims that India turned down a swift trade agreement with the United States. Both officials labeled such reports as “false” and “misleading.” Discussions between Goyal and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer were described as productive, reinforcing the dedication of both nations to establish a balanced and mutually advantageous trade deal.

Sergio Gor echoed this sentiment by characterizing the talks as constructive. He emphasized that both India and the United States remain actively engaged in the negotiation process. This collaboration underscores the commitment of the two countries to strengthen their trade relations through continued dialogue and cooperation.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal provided further insights into the progress of the negotiations, stating that the discussions are advancing smoothly. He mentioned that a framework for the agreement is already in place, with both nations anticipating the right moment to finalize and sign the deal. This suggests that the groundwork has been laid, and the final stages are in sight.

In addition to these developments, US officials have expressed optimism about reaching an interim trade agreement in the near future. This perspective highlights the ongoing cooperative efforts between New Delhi and Washington, as they work closely to enhance their economic ties. The positive outlook from both sides indicates a shared goal of concluding a beneficial trade agreement that serves the interests of both countries.
