India to Open 2027 ODI World Cup Against Australia in Cape Town

India is set to kick off its 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup journey with a high-stakes match against defending champions Australia on October 7 in Cape Town. This encounter marks the beginning of a challenging group stage for India, positioned in Group A alongside formidable opponents such as Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Qualifier A.

The excitement continues as India prepares to face arch-rivals Pakistan just three days later on October 10. This much-anticipated clash will unfold at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium, promising to be one of the highlights of the group stage.

India’s group stage matches will continue with a showdown against Afghanistan on October 14 in Tshwane. Following this, they will take on Qualifier A on October 17 in Bloemfontein, before concluding the group stage with a match against Zimbabwe on October 24 at Victoria Falls.

The 2027 World Cup will feature 14 teams and is jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, offering diverse and challenging conditions for all participating teams. India’s initial fixtures present a formidable test, as they aim to navigate their way through a tough group and secure a place in the knockout stages.
