In a significant diplomatic engagement, Oman and India have reiterated their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership across various sectors. The discussions, which took place in Muscat on Friday, were led by Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar. The focus was on strengthening ties in trade, investment, energy, logistics, and emerging technologies, as well as addressing regional maritime security.

During the meeting, both ministers took the opportunity to review the enduring relationship between the two nations, exploring avenues to bolster bilateral cooperation. A key point of emphasis was on fostering greater collaboration between businesses from both countries, encouraging high-quality investments, and generating new economic opportunities that would mutually benefit Oman and India.

The discussions also delved into regional and international issues, with particular attention to the security of maritime navigation through the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz. The ministers exchanged views on the repercussions of regional tensions on international trade, energy supplies, and the broader global supply chains, underscoring the need for stability in these critical areas.

Both Oman and India agreed on the importance of maintaining ongoing coordination and diplomatic dialogues to promote regional stability. They highlighted the necessity of encouraging dialogue among all parties involved, aiming to de-escalate tensions in alignment with international law. Ensuring the security of vital international shipping routes emerged as a shared priority for both nations.
